Leather garments and goods have always been in news for controversial issues. Especially from animal activists! While a part of the world considers leather evil the other part considers leather hot and in vogue! Though the fact is contradicting it rightly justifies the fact why animal activists are against leather goods. Yes! In recent times there has been an increase in the demand for leather goods like leather garments – jackets and trousers and other products like handbags, suitcases, and shoes!
Leather is in demand for its high quality and durability, it marks the class of one in a society and of course it’s in fashion! One can create various looks with leather as they come in a multitude of styles, array of colors, etc.
Leather coats and leather jackets are in fashion for ages. More than one of the following reasons applies for this ever standing position of leather in the fashion world. They are they are water proof and can be worn in all types of climatic conditions. Despite some opinions like leather is not advisable to be worn on a sunny day, people do wear leather to protect themselves from sun and dust, they are in fashion for a very long time now, they are durable, and they look elegant, classy, and they are of various types.

It is of course disheartening to hear that many animals are killed to produce this in vogue leather goods but not all leather goods manufacturers kill animals to get their hide. Many pseudo-leather materials have been developed, allowing those who wish to wear leather-like garments to do so without actually wearing leather. One example of this is vegan microfiber, which claims to be stronger than leather when manufactured with strength in mind. Vinyl materials, pleather, Naugahyde, Durabuck, NuSuede, Hydrolite, and other alternatives exist, providing some features similar to leather.
